Love Your Enemies?

Hello family!

I know i haven’t been ‘around’ for some time but I’m alive and still praising my way through life…and I hope you are too.

I have come to understand that our life here in earth is made up of several relationships with people around us. Our purpose on earth is to nurture those relationships and most importantly as Christians to be the ‘salt and light’ in our relationships and everyday interactions.

However,  as we interact with others, we are bound to rub each other the wrong way’. All friendships have their ups and downs. They will be tested, friction will arise and some  friendships will make it, some won’t. People will be hurt, words will be said that can’t be un-said and actions made that can’t be undone.

You may have been called names. You may have been hurt. You may have cried.  You may have been ignored. You may have asked yourself what it is that you did to deserve to be treated like this or like that.

Being treated unfairly happens to the best if us, hey, Jesus was crucified through no fault of His own, yet He bore His cross. Likewise are we to bear our ‘crosses’, afterall, God didn’t promise an easy life, in fact He said ‘you will be hated by all for my names sake’ – Matthew 10:22.

So, instead of keeping a grudge and holding in that anger (besides, its you who is being kept up at night by your anger whilst your ‘persecuters’ are soundly asleep), God tells us to ‘Love your enemies and pray for those that persecute you’- Matthew 5: 44 (so if your up all night cause your praying for those haters and not because you are plotting your revenge, big ups to you). ‘Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man!’- Luke 6:22. Woah now that’s deep!

So as we celebrate Christmas, lets us not hold onto anger and bitterness. Give LOVE, afterall, it is the season to give, and it is more Blessed to give than to receive
